How does the system work?

We have created Tempus to respond to the feedback received from professionals in the Automotive industry.It doesn’t mean we’ve rested on our laurels and are always happy to hear your thoughts, but here is a summary of the feature set included:

  • Online portal | the main part of the system is accessed using your computer’s web browser. As a hosted application, there is no installation required on your computer, meaning it can be accessed from any Internet connected machine.

    Customer, vehicle and appointment details are imported into the system from your DMS to avoid duplicating data entry. Vehicle details including the VIN, make and model are stored alongside data on each associated tire set. This data helps your service team to organise for upcoming switch-over appointments, monitor and advise on the condition of wheels as well as manage the status of container or racking facilities if storing on site.

    Data on each tire set includes the brand, size, DOT number, tread depth, rim condition, set type (Summer or Winter) and their current location. Powerful search functions help search on customer or tire information quickly, and a suite of management reports are provided to help manage and monitor usage of the system.

     

  • Handheld device | when in the workshop, during transit or in the storage facility, your staff utilise a wireless handheld device to manage the logistics. The Motorola ES400 is a rugged mobile unit consisting of a cell phone, camera, barcode scanner and the latest Windows software. It also uses a full keyboard to assist data entry.

    Data is downloaded onto the device from the main online portal each day, then used by your team to manage the transfer of tire sets to and from the storage facility. Tempus uses a 2D barcode scanner to identify the right location and tire set and an onboard camera to record the condition of wheels when removed from the customer vehicle.

     

  • Barcode labels | to ensure Tempus can keep track of the location and owner of each individual tire, a simple yet powerful barcode system is used. Our labels use ‘Tuff Tag’ technology and cable ties to protect them from water or transit damage.

    Each is pre-printed with a unique code that the system registers when applied to the vehicle. As each tire moves from the workshop, through transit to its storage location and back again, Tempus tracks it, ensuring you know where each set is along the way.
